VERSE I
The hourglass narrates the story; gravity records the record; a flick of the wrist starts the flow of time; one hundred grains of sand pass through the hour's neck. Seconds turn minutes; minutes turn hours. The hour's tick has no tock, only tales, rhyming with rhythm, sounds singing in sequence, striking with tempo; tell me, can you decipher the innuendo?
VERSE II
The glass reflections illuminate the light, shining brighter than sunlight. The glare is clear, a finer sight, like a paradise; travel there; you'll notice the site. The tone is fading, with only a few quotes remaining; the hour's end is nigh, shifting time; just look up towards the sky. Faint is the sound of silence, windy with whispers; words become silent. The hourglass has the hour. All I need is "Five" - For the cycle to be final.
DECIPHERED
"Five" was written to enlighten the audience on the importance of time; the hourglass represents the cycle of all minutes, moments, and memories. The poem is an enigma, carrying many meanings, leaving the audience with the freedom to decipher. In the poem's first verse, I asked, "Tell me, can you decipher the innuendo?" The question can be answered or perceived in many ways. However, the answer is imagination.
As a reader of this poem, I encourage you to re-listen with your eyes shut with undivided attention. See if you can place yourself inside the hourglass, sand filling around you, with someone holding the hourglass ready to turn time upside down over you. Putting yourself in this dilemma will help you identify how your vulnerable state defines time.
CONCENTRATE ATTENTION
On an important note - our minds have been overloaded by the information we see daily. Our hand's swap and our eyes experience a dopamine flash disturbing our senses. In today's society, adults' attention span is, on average, 8.25 seconds; this is only 21.36 seconds in difference to children. This statistic should concern everyone who is an adult or parent because we lack the concentration to become visionaries.
Poetic expressions like this will challenge the listener to focus their attention and concentrate their senses to achieve a state of clarity to relate to and understand vulnerabilities. "Five" also refers to the time my content needs to create an influence. In verse two, I mentioned, "All I need is Five."
This quote references five minutes for audience attention—every poem, whether a theatrical poem or vivid story, will be no longer than five minutes long; this integrity of time between the listener and the creator will honor a connection, executing the goal to touch the soul's vulnerabilities by pulling the desirable and undesirable emotions to the surface.
UPCOMING CONTENT
The inspiration for Truth is Poetic was a story written in 2020-2022 for the deliverance of Women's Empowerment. The project was titled "The Nurturing of Love." The next chapter will be dedicated to this project and will highlight the four poems that detail a woman's journey through love.
To Be Enlightened...
That was deep and very unique! I love how it’s broken down after the read/listen. Gives more clarity because all people think or decipher on different levels. Good job my friend! Can’t wait to hear your next one!
